Snow condition

Very bad, you have to carry far and use a bike where possible. Thanks to the very compact snow cover, you can also ride quite well on thinner sections of the snow layer. Hardly anything below 1100 is rideable. The higher elevations are empty.

Snow quality

In the open mostly rather bad: at the bottom broken harsh snow with a tough rain crust and further up partly icy, wind-treated layers. In the forest and sheltered areas further up, however, it was quite cool: very felty, compact, warm fresh snow, nice to smear and not slow. There was also some slush at the bottom.

There is hardly any snow at lower altitudes. At medium altitudes, the snow cover is often very compact or has a crust and appears very stable. Above the tree line, however, it is probably quite dangerous at times, although there is often hardly any snow.

Overall impression

Coole Weihnachtstour, in den höheren Waldlagen hat's Spaß gemacht. Schön war auch, dass niemand dort sonst unterwegs war.. Allerdings sehr wenig Schnee inzwischen, Wind, Regen und Wärme haben ganze Arbeit geleistet. Und jetzt wird's erstmal noch wärmer. Es wehte immernoch ein starker Wind.
