Snow condition
Now it's also starting in the Lower Valais. The harbinger of the big storm has already unloaded a lot. The stones are not all gone, but you can drive off carefully everywhere. Material damage has not yet been completely ruled out.
Snow quality
Insane, with at least 12 bad ones it's dry champagne. I will need the red wax for the first time in 6 years to get a good boost in the traverses and flat sections.
Risks
Tense, as it was blowing hard in the morning and the cold, light stuff was blowing into every little drizzle. Many of the wind slabs are medium sized loose snow slides. They are still easy to spot. That will change tomorrow when the thick pack arrives. If it stays this cold, the easy-to-reach couloirs in the middle of the ski area will be better left alone over the next few weeks. The more distant ones too ;)
Overall impression
In the morning, the visibility was probably shit, so the forest was furrowed diligently. But I didn't hit the slats until 3pm and skimmed the Goldenhour. If the two or three stones hadn't slowed me down, I would almost have given it a five. Really good at the moment. Maybe tomorrow we'll get a cut. Terrible
