Snow condition
Everything is green at the bottom, of course. You have to carry your skis up to the Postalm at around 1600m. From there you can climb up and ski down without any problems
Snow quality
from to! From 3500m to about 3000m there is 10-20 cm of powder, sometimes a bit wind-pressed. From 3000m downwards the snow gets heavier and heavier and from 2200 it's already pretty deep. At 2400m the snowfall turned into rain.
Risks
Watch out for sunny steep slopes! We were able to observe a medium-sized avalanche from a very steep gully (photo). Otherwise, the avalanche danger is rather low. Other dangers: -Ice and falling rocks! It's thawing, large chunks of ice are coming off the rocks everywhere and sometimes quite large stones too. -The lake! On the ascent to the Kürsingerhütte you have to cross a frozen lake. Some of us stood knee-deep in the water, unintentionally. -Danger of collapse: Where there is no glacier, most of the streams still run under the snow cover and flush out large cavities. We could see some places where 5x5m pieces had simply collapsed. -Glacial crevasses Mostly easily recognizable. Keep your eyes open, with the warm temperatures some crevasses will probably open soon.
Overall impression
Cool tour! unfortunately we weren't able to reach the summit.
