Sella

Snow condition
15cm of fresh snow on a good base. Nevertheless, there are always a few stones on the Sella...
Snow quality
Having had fantastic conditions in the Carezza area the day before, I headed to the Sella with great expectations. However, there was less fresh snow than expected and also a bit of wind, which meant that I could feel the hard ground in places.

Overall impression
I was a little disappointed that the snow wasn't as plentiful as in Carezza.
As I had also caught the flu, I wasn't in the mood for steep descents. The gullies (Holzer, Joel, Sass de Forcia etc.) were well frequented. I had Val Lasties to myself. After two descents, however, I changed areas again and did a few buttery-soft descents in the Carezza area. There aren't many freeride options there, but apart from me, no one was using the powder and so I was able to enjoy it to the full. Unfortunately, I realized that the ski pass, which is valid in both Val di Fassa and Carezza, is better bought in Val di Fassa. There you get more discount as a ski instructor (Carezza normal price 40€, for ski instructors 35€, in Val di Fassa NP 45€ and for ski instructors 32€). But you only go to Carezza if you are at home there anyway.
