Snow condition

The snow conditions on the Spieljoch were similar to those in Hochfügen, but they were unevenly distributed. Near the summit on the Onkeljoch, the ridges were blown off and bare, in the forest and in wind-protected gullies quite a lot of snow had accumulated.

Snow quality

The fresh snow from Wednesday and Thursday was still very fluffy in areas sheltered from the wind. Outside and in the open terrain, the snow was wind-packed and very crumbly in places. Unfortunately, there was no base here either, which meant that we often hit the ground. But that can't be avoided at the moment.

Risks

Visibility was good all day today, so you could see the danger spots clearly. I would avoid steep terrain at the moment. Due to the cold temperatures and the wind, the snow was very susceptible to disturbance. We were also only out in the forest today. The LWD gave us a 3 for today, which I would also confirm

It was also a great day today and if you choose your line well you can make some good runs.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
