Snow condition

Finally some fresh snow again and then this storm. The stations have already given it away, wind peaks of around 80 km/h and it looks like that in the terrain too. Places exposed to the wind don't get any of this precipitation. "Protected" areas may have received around 20 cm (>1400 m). Otherwise, rock-hard areas alternate with drifting snow areas every meter. Unreal conditions in the summit and ridge areas and not suitable for staying longer.

Snow quality

The few meters with fresh snow were quite good, the rest was a mix of drifting snow and rock-hard sections. Overall, much worse than expected.

The wind was blowing a lot of drift snow, especially in the open terrain. Due to the late start time, we were very conservative in the moderate meadow terrain, where there were no anomalies. You should take a very close look at the lee terrain close to the ridge. Some of the precipitation on the ascent was in the form of sleet. LWS 2 should be suitable due to the manageable amount of fresh snow.

Overall impression

Unfortunately, it didn't turn out as well as we had hoped. The storm was definitely the party crasher today. Unfortunately, nothing has changed in terms of the lousy snow cover... Just 2 stars.
