Snow report Ammer Mountains, 01/19/2016
Ammergauer Alpen (900-1700m, Exposition Nord/West). Schöner Schnee - aber es darf gerne noch mehr sein!

Snow condition
Since last weekend, the fresh snow has settled slightly and a few centimeters have been added. Overall, of course, it's still not enough and especially below around 1300m there is hardly any base and therefore still a lot of ground contact. Further up (above approx. 1400m) there is a good base and you can really step on the gas.
Snow quality
Due to the visibility and the avalanche situation, we were once again only skiing below the tree line, where the powder was consistently light and (if the base was right) great to ski, which held up well due to the cold. The influence of the wind was hardly noticeable (further up, of course, it was a completely different story), and the sun on Monday (at least on the north and west sides) didn't leave any negative traces.
Risks
The Bavarian LWD reported level 2 below the tree line and level 3 above. As I said, we were only out and about below 1700 m. There were no anomalies (settling noise, wind influence, drifting snow packs, etc.), the snow appeared to be well settled and consolidated. Of course, this only applies to the locations and exposures in which we were traveling.
Overall impression
Very nice day with some beautiful slopes, considering the poor visibility we made the best of it today. The base would be there now, now we have to keep hoping for snow so that the stone skis can finally disappear into the cellar.
