Snow condition

The snow conditions above 2,000 meters are still good. If you can park your car high enough, you can get back down to the valley almost without any problems. On the south side, however, you have to be careful not to pick up any stones.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

The snow quality is very changeable. Powder snow is mostly found on north and west-facing slopes protected from the wind. South-facing slopes are frozen as hard as a rock in the morning, but soften up quite well over the course of the day, provided you are not too high. Eastern slopes are very changeable, so you can't make a clear statement here. On the north-facing and west-facing slopes mentioned above, there is usually 5-15 cm of powder, with a light wind cover, especially in the areas close to the ridges. The base is also very hard, so you shouldn't push too hard in places or be prepared for changing snow conditions.

Risks

There were no fresh snow slabs to be seen. However, there were a few loose snow slides from yesterday and the day before yesterday, especially on sunny steep slopes. In the north-facing and near-comb areas, however, caution is advised with regard to bound snow.

Overall impression

Beautiful ascent, good weather and a nice descent. What more could you want?

The conditions on the north flank were still good today, but tomorrow a tour will probably no longer be worthwhile. Yesterday 4 people skied the flank, today including us a total of 8 people. So the Ramolkogel definitely needs some fresh snow for a worthwhile descent.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
