Since Thursday it has snowed about 40cm at 1600m, at the tree line (2000m), without wind influence, it was probably just under 1m, possibly more, difficult to say how much was there before. Above the tree line there was a strong wind influence and as there was probably only a very small base, most of the bumps and also large boulders were snowed in, but stone contact cannot be ruled out. In the forest it is generally rather difficult to get through on the ground, at most when the forest becomes quite dense. Because of the sheer amount of fresh snow, I give it 3 stars despite the low contact with stones.

Windy above the tree line, but still without snow cover. Loose and fluffy in the forest, then a little heavy towards the bottom around midday.

Risks

Above the tree line, you have to be very careful due to the strong wind and the large amount of fresh snow. Although drift snow packs are easily recognizable and spontaneous avalanches have not been observed, we still decided to stop just above the tree line.

You should never talk about too much snow. But if you want to ski down here, even with wide skis, you need quite steep terrain, which is not a problem in the forest, but with little local knowledge and watercourses that are not yet frozen, the descent can also be very arduous. Not to mention the ascent in so much powder. But still great! :) If it doesn't get very warm in the near future, the snow will be the perfect base for the winter.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
