Zur Skitour von der Haustür mit dem Bike

Snow condition
Ski tours are still possible in the Mangfallgebirge. However, the possibilities are now limited. We started at around 900 m, but in a shady area. Up to around 1100 m, we had to carry our skis for a few meters every now and then. In the near future, we will probably be able to cover even more altitude by bike. In the north-facing cirque there is a solid blanket of snow from around 1400 m. However, due to the "summery" temperatures, the situation can change quickly.
Snow quality
Despite a very early start, the snow cover was not intensely frozen. It was already quite soft on our north-east-facing descent shortly after 9am. However, this did not dampen the downhill fun.
Risks
Classic spring conditions, starting early (at the moment rather very early) and ending activities early. The radiation night was not particularly intense with temperatures below 2000 m. Nevertheless, it's always shocking how late people start.
Overall impression
A really good day. This undertaking has been on the agenda for a long time this winter and today was finally the day. Neighborhood men's excursion by bike to the ski tour. Getting up really early was worth it today and was rounded off with food and isotonic refreshments on the way home.
