Overall impression
Snow condition
hardly any fresh snow overnight, then from midday onwards dense clouds and heavy snowfall.from pp, at 800m, min. 30cm. further up then quickly much more ;-)
Snow quality
at about 800m, snow already quite wet and heavy from midday onwards. further up still perfect pow conditions, but only in wind-calmed areas. everywhere the wind comes (today even stronger storm from the west than yesterday. really unpleasant!) a lot of drift snow has been transported. the ascent track was already mostly blown over in the summit area when you turned around after 10m. good pow was actually only left in the forest.
Risks
tricky and with the predicted warming even trickier!!! tomorrow is definitely not a day for ski tours. the rain up to about 1500m will weaken the snow cover and make it heavier. this means that wet snow avalanches are inevitable and they will be very big in the allgäu!!! further up, it's just the snow slabs from the drift snow deposits.
Overall impression
storm, from the west, little visibility, heavy snow at the bottom and then an effect that i hadn't observed before: ice was immediately deposited on the surface when i took off my coat. before you could even think about skiing, it had to be completely scraped off again. the same on the ski goggles, once i turned my head to the west and the glass was completely iced over. then it had to be scraped off again. that's why i only got a 2 today, but the pow is still very cool!
