Skitour im Karwendel bei eisig kalten Start und top gesetzten Pulver

Overall impression
Snow condition
No better or much worse than anywhere else in the northern Tyrolean/Bavarian Alps. It's just that some things here simply need a lot more snow than meadow slopes in the Kitzbühel Alps, for example. So if you suspect that the ground is made up of scree, you should proceed with caution. You can also ski in the forest.
Snow quality
Still very good in the shade. Nice, very dry, cold powder that has settled heavily. Exposed to the sun in the morning and safe with a lid towards the evening. At noon it became soft and was still okay to ski. So powder only on the shaded side. Here 4 stars. But don't forget the old snow problem when searching for powder.
Risks
I didn't notice anything critical with regard to the drift snow. A small board from extremely steep terrain from a few days ago. Drift snow should be easy to recognize. It's already eased up a lot in the last few days and the forecast says it will continue. Moisture penetration wasn't a problem today in sunny conditions. Much more important is the devastating old snow problem. The danger areas described in the situation report are best avoided altogether.
Overall impression
A day with extreme temperature differences. At the start in the car -12 and in the sun on the ascent +7. Standard tours are all completely frozen. Beautiful tour in a great setting.
