Snow report Montafon, 12/29/2013
Endlich! ca. 25 cm Neuschnee ohne Wind. Optisch sieht es sehr winterlich aus, aber die Steine lauern noch in Massen. Das liftnahe Variantengelände ist komplett umgegraben.

Snow condition
With the last two snowfalls, the situation in the Montafon above 1,500 m has improved significantly on the snowy side. On the sunny side, the first snow has fallen in many places.
Snow quality
On the shaded side it is fine, lightly settled cold powder snow. On the sunny side, a light layer of melted snow has already formed by the evening.
Risks
LLB level 3 - Still tricky in touring terrain. The treacherous drift snow has now been covered and can only be guessed at. Transitions from a little to a lot of snow and filled hollows should still be assessed critically locally. Many loose snow slides were observed throughout the day today. Blasting has brought clear success. The miserable snowpack structure on the northern slopes is certainly problematic. With a ski pole, you can break in very deep with little pressure.
Overall impression
Beautiful wintry day with more yield than expected. With short hikes you can still find some lines. This is only clouded by the low snow cover and the currently still poor snowpack stability, especially on the northern slopes.
