Bo

Snow condition

No snow records, of course, but the grassy slopes of the Gamskarkogel (supposedly the highest grassy mountain in the Alps ...) look attractive even with around 1m plus a good 10 cm of fluffy fresh snow. The snow also showed its beautiful side on the way down. Even with my more tour-oriented downhill skis (the green ones from 2013), I only occasionally felt the old snow layer.

Snow quality

3 von 5 Sterne

The fresh snow deserves 4 stars (it actually fell without wind and when it was cold enough). But there was just not enough of it (at least the 10 cm were not avalanche-relevant and only slid down as sluff in the steeper terrain).

Risks

According to LWD 2 up to approx. 2500 and above 3. There were loose snow slides of the fresh snow layer on the old snow cover (mostly hard due to wind) on very steep slopes.

Overall impression

3 von 5 Sterne

A definite three - combination of terrain, snow conditions and quality and weather. The forecast deterioration stuck pretty much to the schedule. At 13:00, the Grossglockern was already in the cloud layer. The Hocharn was just getting cloudy. Dachstein was still in the sun.P.S.: Unfortunately no photos today as my cell phone camera went on strike and I forgot the cable for transferring the camera photos.
