Still a little ground cover in the dense forest. Even at around 1200 m, long stalks and undergrowth are still coming up strongly. Pretty solid snow depth at the top

Over approx. 1200m fluffy fine and dusty as hell. Snowboarders complain about difficult visibility due to powder sprays. Too ride in forest clearings. A little more difficult with the sun below but still great. Around 40 cm of powder in total and, surprisingly for me, no wind here.

Risks

... but appearances are deceptive. The bound layers have been snowed in and are well hidden. No problem in the gentle forest terrain. Open, steep slopes were very easy to trigger today. Blasting below the Gehrengrat ridge on the Kanzelwand has triggered a large snow slab almost as far as the piste. Small snow slabs caused by skiers were also observed. Still very tricky in the steep forest!

Super powder ski tour in defensive forest terrain. Found a surprisingly good descent with top powder. Glad not to have gone to the crowded ski area to avoid the powder stress
