Es wird langsam besser

Snow condition
It's slowly but steadily getting better - the crevasses are still wide open, of course. But thanks to snowfarming/deposits and snowmakers, the Pitztal Glacier can already open the slopes in the lower part. The piste conditions are mostly good but sometimes icy. However, freeriding is only possible to a very limited extent.
Snow quality
Powdery but partly compact or hard due to wind influence. But very nice to ride where the wind didn't reach.
Risks
At the moment, small snow packs have only been seen in very steep areas on the north and north-east side, and only above 3200m. Therefore, the risk of crevasse collapse is currently much higher. We have found several crusts with semolina embedded between them on a north-facing slope at 3300m and the current snow surface has also changed in a build-up manner. So after the next major snowfall it will probably be much more dangerous.
Overall impression
Beautiful day, sunny, not too many people apart from the race teams who leave the glacier again at midday. Wildspitze was also done with skis on the normal route and the north face on foot. But it's a bit tedious at the moment due to the many crevasse crossings. A few turns were also possible next to the piste. First hikes of the season. A good day for preseason.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
