Snow report Jungfrau Region, 01/15/2016

Freeriden in der Jungfrau Region am Tag des Lauberhornrennens. Sehr viele Leute am Berg, doch keiner geht Off-Piste. Alles nur Pistenfahrer und Schlachtenbummler. Dabei liegt Powder vom aller feinsten. Video: https://youtu.be/3LvtoLwIGRk

Snow condition

3 von 5 Sterne

This week, the snow conditions have finally improved considerably. At the beginning of the week it was still raining up to 2000m and storming heavily. The wind gradually weakened and the snow line dropped further and further. This morning it was -8 degrees in the valley and much colder at the top. Nevertheless, there is still not much snow. The areas exposed to the wind in particular were all free of snow and now only have a very thin layer of snow. Freeriding down to the valley on alpine pastures is possible without any problems, but not on stony terrain. About 20cm in the valley. At the top, it is best to ski in hollows and always with the handbrake on.

Snow quality

5 von 5 Sterne

In terms of quality, I have rarely experienced snow conditions as good as today. In the last 2 days there has been about 20-30cm of fresh snow twice. Real Canadian powder, and with very little wind. The snow is really fluffy and simply awesome to ride.

Risks

Tricky, as it was still storming heavily at the beginning of the week. The accumulations of drift snow are barely visible. The fresh snow, on the other hand, was barely bound today.

Now it's getting good. We could still do with a bit more. But it's slowly becoming acceptable. From the top to the valley. www. Freerideguide.ch

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
