The fresh snow of the PowderAlert lies on nothing. A good 20 cm at the parking lot this afternoon, increasing significantly towards the top.
Snow quality
Very good. Minimal wind cover visible at the top, not noticeable when riding. Set just enough (and a sufficient amount of snow) so that you don't break through, but still nice and fluffy at the same time.
Risks
Ascent and descent on the slope that has not yet been groomed or covered with snow. Not problematic. Certainly critical at higher altitudes, especially further towards the main ridge, as there is a lot of fresh snow and wind in places.
Overall impression
Super. I've never caught the tour on the Hoadl so well in the pre-season. No ground contact to speak of and some really good turns. Nevertheless, off-piste excursions are not recommended (stones). Not much going on for the spot and the snow conditions and nice light atmosphere at dusk. Very happy with the afternoon walk.
