Snow condition
Below 2300m, there is practically nothing but snow. Then there are 10-20cm up to 2500m, above 2600m the snow conditions suddenly increase and you can ski quite well off-piste on sharks with a little caution. Channels and hollows are well filled.
Snow quality
You can feel the wind influence of the past few days from the north/northwest. Some wind influence here, especially on exposed ridges. On the sunny side and west side, the sun was still too strong. That's why the best snow can be found on the north and especially the northeast side, preferably sheltered from the wind. In the expo you can find 20cm of fine powder. Below 2700m there is a hard base and only 10 cm.
Risks
We decided against Stubai and in favor of Obergurgl because less fresh snow has fallen there. As Lwd writes in the blog, it is more favorable when there is less fresh snow on the partially built-up layers. With less fresh snow, the drift snow problem is of course not as tense.
Overall impression
Once again, well caught for the prevailing snow conditions. In Obergurgl one or two worthwhile things are already possible. Freeriding is no longer as rewarding at the weekend. But if you know your way around and choose an appropriate tour for the avalanche situation, you can certainly still do something.

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
