In any case, the snow conditions on the north side are still good. Our tour started at approx. 1350m, from where you can easily start on skis. The snow conditions are also good further down in the Stubai Valley, with the exception of the sunny slopes, of course.

On the north side, the snow is still okay. There are still powdery sections that are nice to ride. However, these sections alternate with wind-pressed sections, which is why it is advisable not to ski completely without the handbrake. Where the sun reaches a little more (on the north-west side for us), there was a layer of harsh snow. Below approx. 2300m, there is also a little wetter, gritty powder on the north side.

Risks

I currently rate the avalanche situation as good. You can also ski steeper terrain, the limiting factor at the moment is the snow quality and the resulting risk of falling, and you should of course watch out for sliding snow avalanches.

Probably got the best out of the current conditions today. Unfortunately, the weather was worse than forecast (high veil clouds, very subdued sunshine), which meant that it would have been rather poorly firned on the south side. So we had more luck on our north-facing descent and caught a nice line with halfway decent snow. But now it's about time for fresh snow to arrive again.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
