Overall impression
Snow condition
From zero to one hundred. A good meter in the valley at 1200m. Becoming more at the top. Stick with 135cm did not reach the ground. Bushes and tree stumps still completely gone, not penetrating dead wood. Very good base for the winter.
Snow quality
At the top at approx. 1700m powdery up to approx. 1400m, then becoming much harder. Concrete at the bottom.
Risks
Today we were in an altitude range between 1100m and 1700m. Below that there was no old snow that could become critical and also outside of larger catchment areas, as a 4 was announced above 2000m. Due to the amount of snow, it was still defensive, as there was a lot of sluff sliding around. And you don't want to bury yourself in the snow.
Overall impression
Great day of touring in Ticino. Lots of snow and lots of fun. Super crew...
