Snow report Pyrenees Orientales, 02/28/2014

Snow condition
Very very good! as described yesterday. The 5th star doesn't exist for 2 reasons: Firstly, there was a bit more snow last season in the Pyrenees record winter (sometimes 5-6 m), secondly, the snow depth decreases quickly below 1500, but that doesn't bother us any more.
Snow quality
Wonderful! Super light powder despite the very strong wind in the (light) forest. There were quite a few face shots today. With the sun below 1800 it got a little bit difficult. But it's not too bad, then you just go up a level :)
Risks
According to LLB a 4. Very tricky. The "vent violent" has transported and accumulated a lot of snow. I would give up touring for the time being! But who goes touring when you can also powder on the piste?
Overall impression
What a start in the Pyrenees! Half a meter of fresh snow, paired with sunshine and cool temperatures! The only downside: the really thick slats are at home...
