Einfach nur geil - Powder Galore Rekognoszierung des Neuschnees auf den Bauernwiesen oberhalb von Neuberg an der Mürz

Overall impression
Snow condition
In the morning approx. 25 cm of fresh snow, increasing rapidly with time and increasing altitude. Measured 60cm on the meadow (approx. 960m) with a probe, of which approx. 40-50cm was new. Nevertheless, only 2 stars, as there is often no real old snow base at these lower altitudes, but even in steeper forest trenches (and in the associated dense "battle ski forest" that is unavoidable here) it was already possible today without touching the ground. Ground contact is no longer a problem on meadows etc. anyway.
Snow quality
Actually fluffy powder snow, but thanks to the strong wind, the snow quality was impaired even well below the tree line (even on forest roads in the forest there were small wakes) and therefore only 3 stars, in the too flat meadow areas I only made more "shot" progress even with the Billy Goats.
Risks
In today's chosen terrain, this is out of the question. The accumulations of drift snow could not be concealed (occasionally also cracks along the ascent track) and indicate corresponding problems for higher altitudes in the area (and above) the tree line as well as in steep forest gullies.
Overall impression
Really great powder day in the immediate vicinity of the village. Therefore, of course, nothing earth-shattering and only 3 stars possible. Not least because of the wind and cold. The next few days give hope for an upward trend.
