Snow condition
According to the SLF measuring station, around 30cm had fallen by yesterday morning, with some even approaching 40cm on the Hockenhorn. However, the snow on the southern slopes was already blown away yesterday and virtually none of the precipitation has reached the valley (traffic jam). This means that reasonable off-piste excursions are only possible above Lauchernalp. However, descents down into the valley are possible if the ground or paths are known.
Snow quality
I would have liked to give it four stars, but the south-facing slopes with a lid and the unpredictable snow conditions caused by the wind dampened the top powder snow dream a little.
Risks
No observations of new avalanches, but some of the snow was poorly bonded to the old snowpack and today's drifting snow won't make it any better; there are also some sliding snow cracks on south-facing slopes.
Overall impression
If it had been like this all day between the gondola stations on the Hockenhorn, well then it would have been a four or even five star day. As it was, however, there were some light and shadowy riding experiences and it was also really cold :(
