Snow condition

Hardly any snow from approx. 1500mH (except for north-facing gullies etc.). The snow also melts extremely quickly on the mountain. Stones and meadows are emerging from the snow in almost all exposures. On the south side, there is hardly any snow at all high up. You can still find your way down, but it's already really difficult.

Still frozen slush in the morning, which then quickly turns to slush. Firn can only be found briefly, as the temperatures rose extremely quickly to around 13°C at 1600mH at around 12:00. We only found good snow in high north-facing gullies. However, there were very few of these in the ski area with hardly enough space for more than 3 turns...

Risks

According to the LLB, 1 in the morning, 3 in the afternoon. Extremely tricky! In the afternoon, we saw 3(!) large wet snow avalanches on the eastern slope right next to the park within an hour. These triggered themselves and were quite fast. Slides (wet snow slabs and wet base avalanches) could be observed throughout the area.

Overall impression

2 von 5 Sterne

If you still want to find something useful in the Zillertal, you should stay away from the ski resorts and head north to the high mountains (see Freak's CR from yesterday). Nevertheless, 2 stars because of the still great weather, the fun slush runs and the good laps in the park. But there wasn't much more off-road....
