Snow condition
At an altitude range of around 1600 m to 1980 m, there is an average of around 40 cm to 50 cm on the north side. Below that, it is slowly but surely thinning out. The snow cover is quite inhomogeneous due to the strong Föhn storm since Thursday evening. With a careful choice of route, you can ski off-piste. With lift support, we reached a higher starting point, from where we continued with skins in the more or less still closed area.
Snow quality
It was all there, with heavy powder, wind and hardpack and the snow became heavier towards lower altitudes under the influence of the sun. All in all, still quite ok.
Risks
In our meadow terrain, the main danger came from terrain traps due to the still thin snow cover. From steeper terrain, we could occasionally see very small to small sliding snow avalanches that had already fallen (on the east side). The view towards the Tauern revealed nothing good with the heavy snow plumes.
Overall impression
A nice morning with the odd bit of useful momentum. A little exercise therapy doesn't hurt either.
The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.
Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
