Nordkette - Deepness Overload
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Approx. 30cm of fresh snow on the Hungerburg, 80cm on the Seegrube according to the measuring station in the last 24 hours. A total of over 3 meters of snow on the Seegrube. Downhill run to Hungerburg also has good snow.
Snow quality
Fluffy, cold powder snow and quite a lot of it too. However, the information refers to below the tree line, further up it probably looks different due to the influence of the wind.
Risks
The ski area remained closed today due to the risk of avalanches. This is probably not without reason. That's why we didn't venture beyond the tree line today and stayed on the 3-person descent between trees and mountain pines, but due to the amount of fresh snow and the influence of the wind, we should remain defensive. It will get even worse tomorrow with the rising temperatures and more precipitation.
Overall impression
Since the ski area remained closed, we went on the 3-person descent as an afternoon tour. The forest paths had already been trampled flat and, fortunately, the tracks were already groomed further up. So it was relatively effortless up to the tree line. Further up to the Seegrube was too tricky for me.
The descent was a dream, due to the rather low steepness there was almost too much fresh snow :D
