Frühlingsskitour in Zederhaus
Snow condition
Snow quality
Overall impression
Snow condition
Still a lot of snow . More than enough in the forest too (except steep and directly south-facing). The alpine pastures here in the Zederhaus valley were covered in deep snow. I would almost be inclined to give it 4 stars, but I'm strict (we once had to stumble about 5-6m on a steep, south-facing shortcut of a forest road serpentine (at about 1400m) across the meadow.
Snow quality
Diverse, as is the case with typical spring skiing. Our descent was mainly north-west facing. Wind-pressed, dry old snow at the top. The scattered drift snow lenses from the last snowfall were a little soft. Then in shady hollows, even softer, dry old snow. From 1800-1900, however, also turning into melted snow cover to firn on the northwest side. From midday onwards, more towards the south towards Sulz.
Risks
Day course!
Overall impression
Beautiful, leisurely ski hike to an insignificant ski mound in the Zederhaus valley. We were now able to get a first-hand impression of the huge ski touring potential of this valley. Great views from the summit as far as the Hocharn and even the Großglockner.
