Snow condition
There is enough snow on the shady side to reach the valley on forest paths. Above 1000 m, the snow cover grows quickly. Very homogeneous up to the tree line. Variable above that due to wind in exposed areas. Most of the ridges are overgrown and blown off on the windward side. Significantly less snow on the sunny side.
Snow quality
Above the tree line partly influenced by wind. Some areas are completely covered in snow. Here you will only find fine, fluffy powder in areas protected from the wind. From the tree line, continuous fluffy powder almost down to the valley (approx. 700 m). Above the tree line 3 stars in the forest 5 stars!
Risks
There were clear signs of wind on the ridges. The drift snow was clearly noticeable here. Very few loose snow slides were visible on extremely steep terrain. I would estimate the amount of fresh snow at around 30-40 cm. We couldn't see any warning signs for a pronounced 3. There were many slopes >40° with little traffic.
Overall impression
Super day with glorious winter weather. The snow cover > 1200 is very good. The LLB rather advised restraint today, although we couldn't tell. The wind influence in the fresh snow has clouded the descents in the high mountains.
