Snow report Vaud and Fribourg Alps, 01/09/2014

Snow condition
Well yes, about 10cm to nothing at all on unprotected sunny slopes, and about 30cm on shady slopes.
Snow quality
Icy in the morning, heavy with crust in the afternoon. In the forest it gets firny and greasy to rotten. Generally very difficult.
Risks
The avalanche warning went up to 3 as the day warmed up, the risk of wet snow avalanches on sun-exposed slopes increased rapidly and should not be underestimated.
Overall impression
We actually had two more runs of fun, the crust makes you much faster and you can start to glide on flat terrain in areas that would otherwise be unattractive to ride because you would have to run out again. Now the momentum is enough. But all in all, this "PNP-Schitzel" is very questionable and not very material-friendly. (breadcrumbs-not-breadcrumbs).
