Snow condition
The high daytime temperatures are becoming increasingly noticeable in the Bavarian foothills of the Alps. However, the snowmelt is somewhat dampened by the snowfall in the meantime. On the sunny side, more and more patches of snow are appearing. You can still do a lot, but it's still a lot of complaining. There's still a solid base from 1400 m upwards. I started today at about 1100 m.
Snow quality
The entire ascent took place on a load-bearing snow cover. On the east and south sides, it had already started to snow up nicely around 9 am and 9:45 am respectively at my entry altitude of approx. 1700 m.
Risks
Classic spring conditions, start and finish activities early. Watch out for sliding snow cracks and avoid them.
Overall impression
Nice quick morning ascent with firn and back home in time for breakfast.
