Below approx. 2,000 m, it is only covered in snow. Above 2,200 m there is a layer of snow of approx. 15-20 cm on the shady side. On the sunny side, the snow is poor up to the mountain station. Without machine-made snow, skiing would not be possible. Snow is urgently needed ...

The little snow there is on the shady side would be great for skiing (this is what the 2 stars refer to). But at the moment it's out of the question. The piste is grippy at the start, then ice slides.

Risks

Above 2,300 m, there might be enough snow in steep gullies on the shaded side. But in the Montafon, the "sharks" are certainly the bigger problem at the moment. There are brave skiers in (almost) all snow conditions ;-).

Short and sweet: It was nice to be back on skis. For that we get 2 stars. The area was completely overcrowded. Lots of ski clubs were still mingling with the skiers today. The powder photo was taken on 04.12.2010 in Montafon at approx. 2,000 m. Those were the days ...
