Snow condition
You have to carry or cycle a long way almost everywhere. On the shaded side above approx. 1500m but still quite good. (partly over 2m).
Snow quality
Not so good at the top: lots of avalanche tracks - which were still quite hard and uneven and a strange layer of ice crust with rotten snow underneath. Then a short section of super firn and okay summer firn at the bottom.
Risks
Spring conditions, although this doesn't necessarily apply to the snow at the top. A lot of it has already fallen, but the steep and sunlit cirque walls continue to crack incessantly, but mostly just small slides. But that doesn't rule out the possibility of something bigger coming down. There are still large cornices and deep cracks in the snow cover.
Overall impression
I found it quite strenuous today, but the approach is also long. The snow at the top was only partially good, but luckily there were a few good turns at the bottom.
Relatively many people on the tour (and on the mountain in general), probably also because unfortunately the huts are already open.
The atmosphere in Blaueis is always amazing.
