There is still snow, but surprisingly little. Outside the glaciers, it quickly becomes scarce; on the Diavolezza, you can just about make it down to the valley on the pistes. The glaciers are also rather poorly snow-covered, with crevasses everywhere. In South Tyrol, for example, there is about three times as much snow on the glaciers... Ski tours are no longer worthwhile for long, as the glaciers are too crevassed and the terrain next to them is too snow-free.
Snow quality
Quite hard or firn, but often uneven snow surface due to the strong wind. OK, but could be better.
Risks
Spring conditions, pay attention to daytime warming.
Overall impression
Great weather and it's not every day that you get to the highest peak in the Eastern Alps...
