Snow condition
It fits, but could definitely be more. In total, there are about 90-120cm in the lower area. There is no stone contact, but some of the bushes are really annoying.
Snow quality
Fantastic, 20cm of fluffy powder. Below that another 30 cm of not so fluffy powder. There were bad hits where there was no powder. But if you know where there was no powder, you had a great day today! Towards the afternoon the snow got a bit damp at the bottom, but it was still pretty dusty! And after the wind shifted, pretty much all the Expos will have been hit...
Risks
in the lower range (1600-2000m) rather relaxed. Small-scale drifts. We have also dug a profile: The snowpack is well consolidated from 0-80 cm (due to the warm temperatures + rain), the floating snow close to the base is unlikely to be disturbed in most places, but watch out for transitions from much to little snow. The snowfall of the last two days has been on top of a hardpack, but at CT and ECT we couldn't trigger anything even above 45°. The best thing to watch out for is sluff, but I can't say what it looks like further up. Above the tree line, however, the situation is likely to be quite tense due to wind from various directions and lots of fresh snow.
Overall impression
Cool day, few people and good snow!
