Due to the snowfall on Saturday and Sunday, the Ammergau mountains are once again covered in snow and even in the valley there are 20-30 cm, which even allows forest runs. On the mountain it's significantly more at around 50cm. Unfortunately, this snow always fell at temperatures around or above freezing and today in particular was very warm, so the snow was already wet and heavy in the morning.

The snow quality on the ski tour was good, but of course the snow was not as light and fluffy. This was due to the low altitude and the exposure. To find good powder in the next few days, you have to head to the higher north-facing slopes.

Risks

The avalanche situation was precarious, as a lot of fresh snow had fallen under high temperatures. This fell either on the apery surface or on a very smooth, icy snow cover.

The best for the end of March at these altitudes!!!

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
