Schöner Wintertag vor dem Warmlufteinbruch (Niederalpl)

Overall impression
Snow condition
The rainy period has caused the snow cover to settle considerably. For the beginning of February, the snow depth is simply low. Around 70-80cm (LWD measuring station), but in some places significantly less. The standard tours in the region (e.g. Kleiner Wildkamm, Tonion, Gr. Schwarzkogel, Wetterin etc.) are all possible. However, the mountain pine zones and the mostly unavoidable forest sections are difficult and should be ridden very carefully (handbrake).
Snow quality
Up to almost 10 cm of loose, powdery snow on a frozen layer of old snow. On flat terrain with a very careful driving style, you sometimes couldn't feel the frozen snow.
Risks
No special signs. The last fresh snow (the 10cm mentioned) probably fell with relatively little wind (probably not on the storm-prone high plateaus here like on the Veitsch or Schneealm). However, it will be "historic" from tomorrow (warming!).
Overall impression
The third star is for the sunny weather and the freshly snow-covered trees ("winter wonderland character").
A few more details about the Niederalpl ski area:
Online reservation and purchase of tickets possible (and U.) necessary,
Take Away options are available at GH Ploderer, Holzbox and Mani's,
Extremely busy (shortage of parking spaces and really long queues), as I have never seen here before.
