Snow condition
About half a meter of autumn snow on the ice. The top 15cm still very fluffy, below that it has settled. Slopes ok, off-piste skiing only possible on the glacier (in contrast to the rest of the terrain), but not recommended because of the many crevasses.
Snow quality
Mostly very good but unusable because far too little. On steep south-facing slopes, sometimes a light cover.
Risks
Not too problematic, crevasses are the bigger problem. Small self-releases on very steep south-facing slopes.
Overall impression
Okay for October in the ski area, very nice weather. Some ski tourers heading towards Wildspitze. We were on the Taschachferner for measurements (=work) and were glad when we were back on the slopes.
