Überraschend viel Neuschnee in Damüls

Snow condition
Damüls is covered in a winter coat again. Overnight it snowed 20 cm at about 1400 m and 30 cm and more at 1800 m. It continued to flake more or less until around 13:00. Visually it looks very wintry again. Unfortunately, there is no snow on any surface. Every turn on the meadows exposes the ground. Unfortunately, a lot more snow is needed. All exposures are equally affected. The fresh snow fell without wind.
Snow quality
The fresh snow was too wet up to 1800 m. It got better and better above that. It cooled down considerably again in the afternoon and a cap will probably form up to almost 1800 m by tomorrow. Here in the area, the peaks are at around 2000 m. In the current situation, the snow quality is still a minor matter. The foundation is still missing.
Risks
From a distance, small snow planks can be seen. Slopes must be well above 35°. No special events could be observed in the ski area. As the fresh snow is bound and can lie on a wet layer of old snow, the risk of slipping on steep terrain should not be underestimated. The danger of terrain traps is still omnipresent.
Overall impression
In my opinion, cruising down the slopes still makes more sense than riding off-road. The risk of off-road traps and other obstacles is still very high. If it doesn't get better soon, I'll have to seriously start touring the slopes ;-)
