Snow report Kitzsteinhorn, 04/28/2017
Variantenfahren am Kitz: viel Neuschnee + verdammt viele Leute im Gelände = kurzer Ausflug, da alles verdammt schnell verspurt war.

Snow condition
Due to the April precipitation, the snow conditions on the Kitz are quite good. We had no contact with the enemy at all today. I would estimate the amount of fresh snow to be between 40 cm and 50 cm.
Snow quality
Top conditions in the early morning. Beautiful powder snow with good sinking depths. The fresh snow had virtually no wind influence, which surprised me a lot. Unfortunately, it was tracked faster than you could see. Actually, everyone was just out and about in the terrain. As the day progressed, the snow became heavier on the sunny side, which wasn't tragic as it was tracked anyway and you didn't want to ski anymore anyway.
Risks
Numerous smaller loose snow avalanches could be seen in the area. Some of them were probably blown up, the others came down from steep, rocky, sunny terrain. We were also unable to make any observations in the area during the morning hours. Another danger today came from many people in the terrain who were looking for their skis or didn't know how to get halfway down the mountain. Pay attention to the day's course. Finish your activities early.
Overall impression
Super snow and lots of people. It was only fun for a short time today. The parking lot was as full as in November on the way back (around 11am)!
