The amount of snow itself is acceptable, but also well blown by the wind.
Snow quality
On the south side there is only unpleasant firn and refrozen hard snow. On the north side from the Lötschenpass hut to Kandersteg, the snow was well preserved but also heavily wind-pressed.
Risks
LLB issued level 2. The drift snow fields mentioned in the report from 2000m northwards were recognizable, but we did not see any departures or cracks.
Overall impression
We only escaped the muck harsh conditions in the Lötschental by taking the great north-facing descent to Kandersteg. According to the landlady of the Lötschenpass hut, we were the first this season. Definitely worth it!
