Snow condition
The snow situation varies depending on the altitude. The fresh snow of the last few days has been almost completely blown away on the ridges above 2300m and what remains is a layer of hard frozen snow a few centimetres thick. Stone contact can hardly be avoided in this area. As soon as you leave the ridge in the direction of the western flank, the snow situation improves abruptly. Here, around 50 cm of powder invites you to make some wonderful turns. From an altitude of 1700m, the snow decreases further and further and at the "valley station" at 1300m, all that remains is a white-brown patchwork carpet that spoils the fun again.
Snow quality
In the higher elevations above 1900m you will find great powder up to about 50m below the ridge. The lower you get, the less it gets.
Risks
3/5 Slopes with a gradient of more than 30° were avoided, but no other departures were observed.
Overall impression
The wonderful weather, as we know it from Valais, and the good skiing conditions in the middle section made for a successful ski tour. But there could still be a bit more snow!
