Quite abundant in the Tannheimer Tal, probably not so much in the Illertal (->picture 2). Absolutely sufficient for off-piste ski tours. There is currently an above-average amount of snow on the valley floor. Of course, there are some blown-off areas on the ascent and descent, but you can easily avoid them.

We were heading south and had hoped for firn ... and that's exactly how it turned out. Slightly firny on the ascent, then perfect firn on the descent on a continuous base.

Risks

Spring conditions prevail, at least on the south side. With the right timing, you can get a good grip on the increasing avalanche danger during the day and have fairly safe conditions.

Overall impression

An extra star today because the weather was brilliant again and the conditions were exactly as expected. Very nice firn descent, with absolutely sufficient snow conditions.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
