Snow condition

There is very little snow in the Tannheim mountains. On the north side, ski tours can still be started from the valley or the ski slopes can be used for access. The last heavy snowfall dates from 6.3.14 and brought around 25cm to 2000m. On the shaded side, this is still partly powdery and the conditions are still good. Nevertheless, you have to pay close attention to ground contact. Unfortunately, the warming during the day caused the snow cover to thaw in deep and sun-exposed areas.

On the shaded side, you could still ski in the finest powder snow today, as long as the sun wasn't affecting the snow cover. Otherwise, the snow cover was covered with a layer of hard snow or became slushy as the day progressed.

Risks

The avalanche situation was less of a concern. The main concern was the warming on sun-exposed slopes with the subsequent snow slides.

It's not easy, but you can still find powder snow

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
