Die Jungfrau Region versinkt im Schnee

Snow condition
Within a week, the snow conditions have improved considerably. There is now even 80 cm of snow in the valley. At the top, there is now a good base consisting of several layers. This weekend there was almost a meter of fresh snow at altitude, and there will probably be more to come.
Snow quality
Best snow quality below approx. 2000 m a.s.l. Airy powder. Above that, however, the snow is heavily wind-pressed (2 stars).
Risks
There was a high avalanche danger today. Tomorrow, the SLF has even raised the danger to very high. A danger level that is not issued every year. And this time the warning is probably justified. The strong winds above 2000m have already led to large snow drifts today. Below that, however, there was practically no wind. But the wind will increase tomorrow. Wednesday, the first nice day after this mega snowfall, is likely to be very dangerous.
Overall impression
We've been dreaming of this for so long. The white gold is finally here. And it should ensure snow conditions for the next few weeks.
Visibility was poor today. The lifts above First were closed. But it was safe to powder along the fir trees on the edge of the piste to Bort. There were hardly any people. During the afternoon, the snow line temporarily rose to around 1500m above sea level.
