Snow condition

4 von 5 Sterne

There was about 30-40 cm of fresh snow on the Schilthorn. In Mürren it was still about 10-15 cm, but wet snow. In the Bernese Oberland, the snow conditions in the lower areas are poor. Grindelwald is already green on the valley floor. Above 2000m, however, the snow conditions are clearly above average. On the Schilthorn, the snow is likely to stay there all summer... ;-). At the moment, conditions are still perfect as far as Mürren.

Snow quality

Best snow quality on the Schilthorn. Very light. Nothing wind-pressed.

Risks

The snow fell without wind. Even the large masses of snow are well consolidated. As soon as the cold snap is over, however, wet snow slides will soon be noticeable. The slopes are still fully loaded. The sun already has a lot of power... Suddenly things move quickly. On the Schilthorn, this mainly affects the Totenkopf descent and the south-facing ascent to Wasenegg. In spring weather, these tours are only recommended in the morning.

Overall impression

4 von 5 Sterne

It would have been a great day... If the fog hadn't spoiled the game. In the morning the fog line was on Birg, in the afternoon it came up to the Schilthorn. The fog was very dense and almost 2000 meters thick.
On the bright side, the slopes below Birg are still untracked.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
