Snow condition

The snow conditions must be assessed locally. Here in the central Bregenzerwald and on the west side, the snow starts at approx. 1000m and from 1100m you can start walking in open areas and from approx. 1300m you can also walk in the forest. The tour ends at 1900m. In this area, the snow cover is very homogeneous. Above that, the wind has blown everything away. Many streams and other terrain obstacles are still open and sometimes make the ascent or descent more difficult.

Finer set powder! The top 5 cm are fluffy with various soft layers underneath. But perfect for skiing. From midday onwards, the snow became noticeably heavier on the south side. We mainly skied on the west side.

Risks

The last few centimeters have fallen without the influence of wind. Drift snow packs are difficult to recognize. A few old small cracks are visible, but we didn't notice anything new during the tour. The LLB has issued level 2 for this altitude.

Overall impression

Nice little tour. With the fresh snow, it can only get better. A meter of snow and cold temperatures are still missing for proper tours at this altitude.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
