Snow report Salzburger Land North, 11/26/2017

Snow condition

At the Seegatterl parking lot 15 cm of powder (in the morning) on nothing. From 1000 m partly, from 1300 m mostly usable base. On the mountain an alarming amount of fresh snow, in good slopes more than 30 cm, in bad, blown-out slopes the grass looks through between meter-high cornices.in the forest a large part of the fresh snow is still on the trees.second star for the first non-piste tour.

Snow quality

Very very fine, the fresh snow here in the east fell almost exclusively after the drop in temperature. Useless as a base, brilliant to ride on.

Nothing observed, wind signs are unmistakable. I'm looking forward to the first snow profiles, maybe the temperature gradient between new and old snow is quite flat and there are fewer old snow problems this year.

Overall impression

I actually wanted to take the toll road to the Winklmoosalm, but would never have made it up with the bad winter tires, so I started from the bottom. Even as a local, you always underestimate the snow hole effect of this area. The nasty tunnels (warm snow at the bottom, cold powder on top) on the ascent took a lot of energy; the brilliant summit slope still had to be done twice.
