Snow report Sölden, Ötztal, 12/03/2019

Overall impression
Snow condition
Ridges and crests quite blown off, gullies and hollows well filled. However, less snow than at the opening of the season. The foehn has worked well. But overall good snow conditions. Runs are doable down to the valley, even in the forest. Some gullies are also easy to ski, only the rocky ones are not yet possible. Sometimes you come across hard surfaces and ice nodules. However, 10-20cm new.
Snow quality
Very easy to ride in a protected channel. Combs and ridges are wind-pressed. The north side and north-east are the most powdery. However, there has already been some wind.
Risks
Drift snow is prone to disruption, but the packs are very small. Due to the small amount of fresh snow. Underneath, the snow seems to be very well settled.
Overall impression
Weather day as you would expect from Obergurgl, the approach severely limits the freeriders coming from Innsbruck. Therefore almost alone the whole day. Long runs and sun - what more could you want in early December? There are so many freeride options that you don't have to ride a run twice.
