There is quite a bit of snow and I have been told that it is unusually heavy for the Pitztal. But the rough, rocky terrain can take a lot more snow.

Wind and, at lower altitudes, warmth ruined a great powder day. The fresh snow was wind-blown. You have to be really good on your skis to have fun. Unfortunately, I don't. :-(There was a thin crust where it rained yesterday. Nevertheless, it was almost better to ski with it than further up in the wind-pressed snow.

Risks

The avalanche situation is tricky. The heavily transported fresh snow lies on a hard crust and many explosive charges have led to many snow slabs, the possibilities in the terrain are definitely limited and the wind has become very strong again in the afternoon and has led to new drift snow.

Overall impression

Snow unfortunately very windswept. We ventured down the descent from Mittagskogel after everything had been blasted for tomorrow's competition (Wildface) and therefore seemed safe. Without the targeted blasting work, I definitely wouldn't have gone on this descent.

Note on Conditions Reports

The ConditionsReports are user-generated content - from freeriders for freeriders! Recently, a distinction has been made between MiniReport, which offers a quick status report with location, image/video and text, and ProReport, which requires more detailed information and can be uploaded by advanced users.

Every registered user can enter the MiniReport in the WebApp, iOS app or Android app. If you would also like to upload ProReports, please write to us at conditionsreporter@powderguide.com so that we can activate it for you and briefly explain it to you!
If you need help with the operation or have suggestions for improvement, please write to us at app@powderguide.com!
